Farmington HealthCare and Chiropractic
Farmington HealthCare and Chiropractic, LLC (FHCC) was founded in January 2025 in Farmington, Connecticut. The founder, Dr. Wazida Tabassum, received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was exposed to chiropractic care after a low back injury during her education.
Dr. Tabassum was inspired by chiropractic evaluation and treatments dedicated to musculoskeletal conditions, a field that did not exist in India. Dr. Tabassum was drawn to this profession and decided to obtain her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in 2008.
Dr. Tabassum, an immigrant from an Indian background, soon realized the need to represent this community in the healthcare field. She founded Farmington HealthCare and Chiropractic LLC to treat musculoskeletal conditions in patients of all races, genders, cultures, and ethnicities. 47% of the general population, regardless of gender, age, or economics, experience one or more episodes of musculoskeletal pain, which can affect the quality of life if not managed appropriately. The musculoskeletal disorders are injuries or pain in joints, ligaments, muscles, nerves, tendons, and supportive structures of the neck, back, and limbs. This musculoskeletal disorder happens by sudden exertion or repetitive motion, resulting in strain. We at FHCC will treat these musculoskeletal disorders with chiropractic spinal manipulation, extremity manipulation, joint mobilization, and soft tissue modalities.
The management of patients musculoskeletal disorders includes pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches, with the chiropractic treatment initially selected, such as therapeutic exercises, physical modalities, cryotherapy, heat therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy, current clinical practice guidelines recommend spinal manipulation therapy (SMT) for spine pain. It is within chiropractic expertise trained in spinal manipulation therapy and manual and spinal mobilization.
At FHCC, we will treat musculoskeletal disorders through chiropractic spinal and extremity manipulation, spinal flexion/distraction techniques, myofascial release, trigger point release therapy, and acupuncture techniques such as cupping, electrical therapy, cryotherapy, and heat therapy. FHCC is located within the building and has several multidisciplinary health care practices such as Starling Physician, UConn Health, orthopedic pain and spine surgery, podiatrist, dental group, and collaborative laboratory services. The presence of the multi-health specialties makes the FHCC location ideal for getting referrals.
Musculoskeletal disorders are preventable, and patient education, preventive strategies, and chiropractic intervention are preferred to minimize the use of pharmacological intervention. FHCC will shape the field of musculoskeletal disorder management by providing patient education, preventive strategies, and non-pharmacological interventions such as chiropractic spinal/extremity manipulation and manual therapy for the initial management of musculoskeletal disorders. FHCC will refer patients to appropriate specialists such as a physiatrist, pain management, orthopedic, neurologist, or primary care when conservative and chiropractic interventions are ineffective.
